Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC Cuba) / Micranthemum sp. ‘Monte Carlo’

Hemianthus Callitrichoides (HC Cuba)

Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’ (HC Cuba), commonly known as dwarf baby tears, is one of the smallest and most popular freshwater aquarium carpeting plants in the world.

Caring Tip:

Lighting: Provide medium-to-high aquarium lighting (50–100+ PAR at the substrate) for 10–12 hours daily so the plant creeps horizontally instead of growing vertically.

CO2 Injection: Maintain a steady level of 20–30 ppm carbon dioxide; a lack of CO2 is the leading cause of melting and upward stem growth.

Micranthemum sp. ‘Monte Carlo’

Micranthemum sp. ‘Monte Carlo’ (scientifically known as Micranthemum tweediei) is a popular, low-growing foreground carpeting plant featuring compact, rounded, bright light-green leaves on creeping stalks.

Micranthemum sp. Monte Carlo is a popular, beginner-friendly foreground carpeting plant that forms a dense, bright green mat in freshwater aquariums.

Caring Tips:

Lighting: Moderate to high lighting. Bright light keeps the growth low and compact. Low light causes the stems to grow vertically (leggy) instead of creeping horizontally.

CO2 Injection: Not strictly required, but strongly recommended. CO2 speeds up carpeting and makes the mat much denser
