Calathea roseopicta ‘Rosy’ is a tropical houseplant known for its eye-catching leaves with a silvery-green or pale pink center and a dark green border. Proper care involves providing bright, indirect light, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy, and ensuring high humidity, often with filtered, distilled, or rainwater. This plant exhibits nyctinasty, folding its leaves up at night and opening them in the morning.

 

Care requirements

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves and cause them to lose their vibrant colors.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Using filtered, distilled, or rainwater is recommended.
  • Humidity: This plant thrives in high humidity. You can increase it by misting the leaves, using a humidifier, or grouping plants together.
  • Soil: Use a well-draining, rich potting mix.
