Carissa macrocarpa (commonly known as the Natal plum) is a vigorous, dense evergreen shrub native to the coastal regions of South Africa. Highly prized for its glossy dark-green foliage, fragrant white flowers, and edible, vitamin-rich red fruits, it is widely used in tropical and subtropical landscapes for hedging, coastal planting, and erosion control

Sunlight: Thrives in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct light daily) for maximum flowering and fruit production. It tolerates partial shade but will produce fewer blooms.

Watering: Water deeply but infrequently. Allow the top 2-3 inches of soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering causes root rot, making excellent drainage absolutely essential.

Soil & Fertilizer: Prefers sandy, well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Feed in early spring and throughout the summer with a balanced granular or liquid fertilizer (like a 10-10-10 or half-strength NPK) to promote healthy growth and fruiting.
