-Chilean Sphagnum Moss is a natural moisture retaining planting medium suitable for lining wire baskets and surface mulching on pots.
-Sphagnum moss is a fine substrate, and it can hold water better than bark.
-Its water retention ability makes it an excellent potting material for young orchids. However, it cannot provide proper aeration for root respiration.
-Moss can be packed right up to plant stems without encouraging rot or disease.
-If you want to pot your orchids, in my experience sheet-type moss can work well either crumbled throughout another medium or as top dressing.
