Euphorbia pulcherrima, commonly called poinsettia, is the most widely grown of all shrubby euphorbias. In Mexico it is a straggly deciduous shrub. Inconspicuous yellow flowers are surrounded by large brilliant red floral bracts (modified leaves) in winter through spring.

Light: Poinsettia grows best in bright, indirect light. Some direct morning sun is fine, but hot direct midday sun can cause bract color to fade. Water: Water thoroughly, then allow top of soil to dry out between waterings.
