Portulaca molokiniensis ‘Variegated’ is a rare, compact, shrub-like succulent (up to 30-45 cm tall) prized for its striking, pale green to creamy white and light green variegated, fleshy leaves arranged in neat, four-row columns. It produces small, yellow, cup-shaped flowers. This slow-growing, drought-tolerant plant is ideal for sunny spots, preferring bright, direct light and well-draining, sandy soil.
Portulaca molokiniensis (‘ihi) is a rare, endangered, woody-stemmed succulent native to Hawaii, growing up to 30–50 cm tall with, thick, pale green, paddle-shaped leaves arranged in 4-rowed, tight, symmetrical, spiraling, rosettes. It produces small, yellow, cup-shaped flowers at the tips. It requires full sun, excellent drainage, and low water.
Light: Requires bright, direct sunlight (6-8 hours daily).
Watering: Highly drought-tolerant. Water only when the soil is completely dry.
Soil: Needs excellent drainage; use a sandy or succulent-specific, gritty mix.
