Tradescantia fluminensis is a perennial ground cover that spreads along the ground with soft, hairless stems and leaves. The plant has oval, dark-green leaves with pointed tips that are shiny, smooth and slightly fleshy about 1.25–2.5 inches (32–64 mm) long.

To keep soil evenly moist, a regular watering schedule is best. Water until water drains through the bottom of the pot, taking care that your plant won’t sit in water. Tradescantia thrive in humidity and they love a regular misting. Leaf tips will turn brown without adequate humidity.
