The Arabica coffee plant (Coffea arabica) is a large, evergreen shrub native to the mountainous forests of Ethiopia. Accounting for roughly 60% of global coffee production, it is highly valued for its smooth, sweet, and complex flavor profile compared to its hardier counterpart, the Robusta bean.
Light: Place your coffee plant in a spot that receives bright, filtered, or indirect light. Avoid direct midday sun, which can easily scorch the leaves. Morning or late afternoon sun is usually safe and beneficial.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water deeply once the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch. Ensure your pot has adequate drainage holes.
Soil: Use a rich, slightly acidic, and well-draining potting mix. A blend of peat-based potting soil with added perlite and compost is ideal for retaining moisture while preventing root rot.
