Clitoria ternatea (commonly known as butterfly pea or Asian pigeonwings) is a fast-growing, tropical, perennial legume. Famous for its vibrant, vivid blue flowers, it is widely used for natural food coloring, herbal “blue tea”, soil enrichment through nitrogen fixation, and traditional medicine.
Sunlight: This sun-loving plant thrives in warm climates. It needs a minimum of 4–6 hours of bright, direct sunlight daily.
Soil: Use a fertile, slightly sandy, and well-draining soil mix (e.g., 50% garden soil, 25% compost, and 25% coco peat).
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, especially during its growing season. While established plants can survive dry spells, regular watering yields the most abundant flowers.
