Melastoma (Malabar melastome or Singapore rhododendron) thrives in warm, tropical climates. To grow successfully, provide full sun to partial shade, high ambient humidity, and consistently moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Protect the shrub from waterlogged roots and prune it regularly to encourage vibrant purple blooms.
Sunlight: Requires at least 6 hours of bright, direct or indirect sunlight daily.
Water & Humidity: Water consistently to keep the soil evenly moist. It appreciates high humidity, but do not let water pool around the roots to avoid rot.
Soil: Prefers rich, loamy, and slightly acidic to neutral soil.
